Semidetached was loosely based on “Beyond the Horizon” a 1920 stage play by American playwright Eugene O’Neill. The self-funded project was designed to explore narrative, video and interactive to engage online audiences in a unique model of storytelling.

The use of long duration video sequences supported by imagery for users to explore and learn more about the story and its characters. Hidden scenes and clues to a larger mystery were also embedded into the imagery. The combination of video, stills, music and game elements offers really unique possibilities for the delivery of narrative experiences. However there are many challenges to the funding models behind the creation of this type of content.
